Wamego Area Veterans Memorial Fund

The Wamego Area Veterans Memorial is a powerful tribute to the service and sacrifice of our military, honoring fallen heroes from World War I to the present. It includes powerful imagery from key historical moments, such as the flag raising at Iwo Jima and the Vietnam Memorial. A life-size bronze soldier stands in front of the wall, kneeling before a WWII-style battle cross, symbolizing the ultimate sacrifice. The memorial’s wagon wheel design, reflecting Wamego’s historical ties to the Oregon and Military Trails, serves as a space for reflection and remembrance. Contributions are needed for ongoing maintenance and preservation, ensuring that this tribute remains a reminder of those who fought for our freedom. Engraved bricks are also available to honor veterans or active-duty service members, providing a way to personalize and expand this memorial for future generations.
